Together Increasing Awareness
The more we know about dealing with trauma and PTSD, the more we can help others. Many organizations provide assistance and conduct investigations to help us understand trauma and its aftermath. Together these groups are helping increase PTSD awareness this June.Other resources on how we can collectively handle trauma:
- Employers, the media, civil servants, and various members of our communities are affected by trauma.
- Learn more about how to give or obtain help following disaster.
- Although the NCPTSD does not provide direct clinical care, many others do. Find out where to get help for PTSD.
Help us increase PTSD awareness
For the month of June, we need everyone's help to increase PTSD awareness. Here are some ways you can help us reach that goal:- Post a PTSD Awareness Day Flyer (PDF) in a common area, where it can be seen.
- Add a link to http://www.ptsd.va.gov/or a "PTSD Information" badge onto your Website or Facebook page.
- Print educational materials from our website to handout.
- Stay up-to-date throughout the year on the latest developments in PTSD treatment and research. Sign up for our PTSD Monthly Update.
From Week 1
Professionals can help by keeping up to date on the latest PTSD treatments and research. Learn new ways to help your clients, coworkers and customers.- Take a PTSD 101 course and earn CE credits.
- Sign up to receive the Clinician's Trauma Update - Online: This publication helps you by summarizing current clinically relevant research.
- Learn about treating co-occurring problems. Tell your clients about the mobile app PTSD Coach. The app helps them cope with symptoms at any time and allows them to monitor how they are doing.
From Week 2
Everyone can Help. The more we know about dealing with trauma and PTSD, the more we can help others, loved ones, or even ourselves.- View Understanding PTSD: to learn about common myths and hear stories from people dealing with PTSD.
- Learn about effective PTSD Treatments and Where to Get Help.
- Download the PTSD Coach mobile app. The app can help you cope with symptoms when they arise.
From Week 3
Family, friends, and othersShare your stories and successes on Facebook. Others can learn from your experiences. The more we know about dealing with trauma and PTSD, the more we can help others, loved ones, or even ourselves.
