EDD Award 6 Million in Grants to Help Veterans Transition into High Paying Jobs

SACRAMENTO –
services to help 1,200 veterans move quickly from military life into high-wage jobs
and civilian careers with a future.
“The men and women of our armed forces leave the safety of civilian life and go in
harm’s way to keep all of us free. Now, as they come home, we have a chance to
say ‘thank you,’” said Pam Harris, Chief Deputy Director of the Employment
Development Department (EDD). “With these new programs we are showing our
appreciation in a tangible and effective way – offering veterans training and
employment services that recognize the skills and experiences of their military
service and smooth the way to successful civilian careers.”

The closest county to Calaveras that was awarded grant money is Stanislaus at a grant amount of $419,195. Vietnam Veterans of California was also awarded a grant in the amount of $465,000.
