Prime
Attractions Reflect National Trends and Include ‘Small Town’ Feel, Luxury
Amenities
(COPPEROPOLIS, Calif.) – Saddle Creek Resort – the
Castle & Cooke golf community in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Calaveras
County – reports seeing an increase in Baby Boomer buyers exhibiting habits
that mirror national trends.
A survey earlier this year by Better Homes
& Gardens Real Estate, LLC revealed several behaviors that have been on the
mark when it comes to new home owners at Saddle Creek.
“Boomers aren't
necessarily downsizing into properties that have fewer amenities – they plan to
live the rest of their lives in style,” says Sherry Chris, President and Chief
Executive of Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate. “Seventy percent of them
said the house they retire in will be the best home they've ever lived in,
[and] 39 percent said it would be [in] a rural community, such as a farm or a
small town.”
Saddle Creek’s location (two hours from the Bay
Area and 1.5 from Sacramento) embodies the “rural community” preference. Moreover,
real estate options like custom and estate lots, and custom and semi-custom
homes have proven to suit discerning Boomers.
The community’s newest offering is The Oak Collection, which features two-bedroom with den or three-bedroom floor plans with 2 or
2.5 bathrooms. They range from 1,890 to 2,574 sq. ft. and are available in
French Country, Monterey, Traditional and Craftsman architectural styles.
A Great Room with abundant windows is the
centerpiece of the customizable layouts. Other highlights include gourmet
kitchen with granite countertops, Kohler cast-iron sink and Whirlpool
stainless-steel appliances; grand eight-foot-tall entry door; Moen plumbing and
bath accessories; comfortable master bedrooms with large walk-in closet; master
bathroom with ceramic-tile, double-sink vanity; two-car garages and more. Prices begin just under
$400,000.
“Our luxury home options and onsite amenities
are ideal for Baby Boomers seeking a more laid-back lifestyle without
sacrificing the comforts of home or proximity to the Bay Area and Sacramento”
says Darlene Mohlke, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Castle &
Cooke California. “The community’s emphasis on environmental friendliness is
also a big plus.”
Castle
& Cooke’s unique “Green-Wise” philosophy is built on four pillars –
“Energy-Wise,” “Health-Wise,” “Earth-Wise” and “Design-Wise.” Respectively,
they promote more efficient energy use, improved indoor air quality, global
conservation via sustainable building materials, and a walkable, fitness-oriented
community in harmony with nature.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy an array of
activity options. Saddle Creek’s award-winning golf course has been ranked
among the 10 best in California, and its sports center includes a
state-of-the-art gym, tennis and bocce courts, swimming pool and spa. Other
area highlights are biking and mountain biking trails, water sports and fishing
on many of the Sierra foothills’ nearby lakes (including Lake Tulloch, which is
only five miles away), and abundant winter sports options.
Nearby cultural attractions include wine
tasting tours at nearby vineyards, theatrical performances, museums, scenic
gardens and trails, a summer concert series and more.

Situated in the rolling foothills of the Central Sierra region just two hours from the Bay Area and 1.5 hours from Sacramento, Saddle Creek Resort is located in the heart of the Copper Valley in Copperopolis. Owned and operated by nationally-renowned developer Castle & Cooke, the premier Northern California golf community is site of the company's newest collection of classic luxury homes.
Golfers will discover an ethereal collection of
shimmering lakes, native trees, indigenous grasses and 100 bunkers punctuating
a challenging, thought-provoking course from tee to green. To create an
atmosphere of tranquility and isolation, architect Carter Morrish devised a
routing in which no two holes run parallel to each other.
In proximity to Saddle Creek Resort is Copperopolis Town Square, a traditionally-designed, Gold Rush
era-themed "country town" that is the retail and event hub of the
Central Sierra region. Featuring charming boutiques, eateries and specialty
shops, the pedestrian-friendly Town Square is the perfect place to spend some
time after a round of golf.
