San Andreas – The California Department
of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL
FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, is
reminding all residents the burn suspension is still in effect, until further
notice. Fire danger remains above
average across the Central Sierras and, even though we have recently
experienced some moisture and cooler temperatures, the chance of large and
damaging fires still exists.
If a homeowner
does conduct burning operations, during the time period when burning has been
suspended, they are subject to the issuance of a citation (misdemeanor), fines,
and may have to pay suppression costs to put the fire out.
CAL FIRE
Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit will continue to monitor the weather and fuel
conditions, and will lift the burn suspension when conditions allow for safe
burning.
