Sonora PD press release re: Assault with a deadly weapon

24 August 2014, at approx. 7:45 pm, Officers responded to the emergency room of Sonora Regional Medical Center for a subject who was being treated for injuries sustained from a battery.

Officers contacted the 18 year old male victim at the hospital. The victim related he and his roommate, Daniel Slawinsky, 27 of Sonora, were arguing over the victim not doing the dishes. During the argument, Slawinsky threw a porcelain coffee mug at the victim, which struck the victim and broke. Slawinsky then picked up a second coffee mug and charged the victim and struck the victim again, causing the victim to fall to the floor.

Another roommate attempted to render aid to the victim, but was unable to do so because of the nature of the injuries. The victim suffered two larger and deep lacerations to his neck. One was approximately one and a half inches long, and half inch wide. The second was approximately one inch long, and a quarter inch wide.

Officers contacted Slawinsky at his residence on the 300 block of Fairview Lane. Slawinsky admitted he and the victim were arguing over the dishes not being done. Slawinsky also admitted to throwing the coffee mug at the victim. Slawinsky was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony assault with a deadly weapon.
