According to Brian Moss Environmental Management Agency Administrator Director of Environmental Health/Air Pollution Control Officer:
"Staff investigated and confirmed that waste water was being released into Lake Tulloch from a compromised sewer lateral under the water on July 23, 2013. The residence were instructed to immediately cease pumping waste water into the compromised sewer lateral and have the holding tank pumped to prevent any further release of waste water into the lake.
Although
the lateral is no longer active, as a final action, staff sampled the
lake water to identify bacteria levels in the area of concern on August
5, 2013. This sample has been turned over to a State Certified
Laboratory for analyses."
Update 8-7-13 9:13 am:
According to Brian Moss no signs were posted in the area of question due to the waste water pump being deactivated and the "potential health hazard was immediately remediated on July 23, 2013."
