Payless IGA and Copper Parent Teacher Club raise $10,300 for Copper School

At the November student of the month assembly at Copperopolis Elementary School, representatives from Payless IGA presented Superintendent/Principal Julia Tidball with a check for $10,300 for Copperopolis Elementary.

The monies were raised at the annual Steak and Shrimp fest hosted each year by Young's Payless IGA and the Copperopolis Parent Teacher Club.

Kevin Young, of Young's IGA, enjoys giving back to the community and tries to support local schools in each of the towns where a Young's IGA is located; Lockford, Pioneer, and Copperopolis. He works with vendors that help with supplying foods needed, but picks up the cost of any foods and alcohol that is not donated by vendors. IGA and its vendors donate ALL the food and alcohol for this yearly event.

The Steak and Shrimp fest has been a long standing yearly tradition in Copper tha raises most of the funds needed to supply classrooms with essential supplies, offest field trip costs, purchase sports equipment, and fund celebrations for children doing well in school and assemblies.
