On Saturday it was week 2 of 3 for the "Stuff the Bus" event for the local food bank holiday push.
Week one was in Arnold. Week two was in Copperopolis and Valley Springs. Week three will be in Angel's Camp November 12th at Save Mart.
Saturday's events in Copper and Valley Springs were very successful, filling three pallet sized crates to overflowing with donated holiday meal items for the less fortunate in our county this holiday season. In addition to the the crates of food, a total of 42 Turkeys were donated by Copper and Valley Springs residents.
I was very inspired to see the giving nature of our communities to help those in need during the upcoming holiday season. One lady I spoke with was going into surgery next month and her husband had just come out of surgery recently and she donated a turkey. This type of service, looking beyond ourselves to ask what we might be able to do to help our community is so wonderful. My family and I helped working this event and I believe we were very blessed by the experience. In today's often harsh world, it is great to see such caring and giving right here in our community.
Sincerely, Darren
