And not just any bookstore...
Once Upon a Time on the Square carries an eclectic collection of books from gardening to romance, from travel to science fiction, scattered in between the many genres you will also find a selection of local authors published works. They carry hardcover, paperback, new and used.
Now their used section has a story all its own, this section is comprised of mostly donated books, which when sold, owner Billie B. Kane donates 1/3 of those profits to the local Copperopolis Library.
Once Upon a Time does not stop at books. There are seasonal gifts, local handmade items, games, hats, puzzles, dolls, cards, candies, stained glass, and more.
Patrons are welcome to sit down in the many comfortable chairs and peruse their selection prior to purchase or play a friendly game of checkers to while away the time.
And for the finishing touch, a wonderfully appointed children's corner. Where a child can enter a world just their size filled with books, art projects, toys and hands on play things. This is where the enchanting story time takes place each Thursday at 4:00 presented by the talented storyteller Carol Benevento.
