Opening night of Stage 3 Theater Company’s production of Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’ was a thought provoking, intense, emotional rollercoaster.
For lover’s of true drama The Crucible by Stage 3 is just the ticket. Based on the book by Arthur Miller and directed by Don Bilotti, the play takes place during the time of the mass hysteria of the Salem witch trials and the feverish hunt that ensued. John Proctor, a simple man, hard working and honest, finds himself in the fight for his life and that of everything precious to him. Attempting to find the true source of the allegations of devil worship or witchcraft made on innocent victims, he finds himself caught up in a twisting turning world seemingly gone mad with the desire for the hanging bodies of witches.
While highlighting an actor would be a seemingly simple task, for this performance it is near to impossible as each actor gave their all, landing their lines with perfection, embracing the audience, and creating a feeling of being within their inner circle, a participant in their mad world. Well done.
Fast paced, emotion filled, and intensely dramatic.
