Sport Pub retains the County Pool Champ title

Seven teams from throughout the county competed in the Countywide Pool Tournament this past Sunday for the title of County Pool Champion.

And the winner was Ray Garcia of Micki and Larry's Sports Pub.

The tournament is held twice yearly, the first weekend of May and the first weekend of November.

This month's win allows the Sports Pub to have the title of reigning champions for 2014.

Ray Garcia brought the win to the Sports Pub on November 2, 2014.
James Brehm won the tournament this past May for the Pub.

When the Sports Pub hosts the countywide tournament in May 2015 it will mark the 30th anniversary for the pool tournament.  Micki and Larry have plans of making that tournament a celebration.


Sports Pub, Old Corner, Claussen's Angels Camp, Calaveras Pines Railroad Flat, The Smoke House Valley Springs, The Red Brick San Andreas,and one unknown bar participated.

Countywide Pool Tournament - and the winner is....

The 28th annual Countywide pool tournament was held on May 5, 2013 with 8 Calaveras County bars represented:
Copperopolis; Sports Pub, Old Corner Saloon
Mountain Ranch; Blunder
Wallce; Rosetti's
Murphys; Nugget
Valley Springs; The Range
San Andreas; Red Brick
Angels Camp; Claussen's


Pool players descended on the Sports Pub, winners of the 2012 Countywide Pool Tournament, to play for the title of Grand Champion. The tournament began about noon and played until after 6 pm with many nail biting moments. In the final game, a match between J.R. from the Old Corner and Peter McDonald from the Red Brick, the room was hushed, the tension in the air thick...the eight ball was sunk and Peter McDonald became the proud owner of the coveted Countywide Pool Trophy and the 2013 Grand Champion!

With a tear in his eye Peter held his trophy high and said, "I dedicate this win to little Leila."
