Lake Tulloch Lions support our Scouts

The Lake Tulloch Lions, known for their generosity to our community, just recently 'adopted' the three scout troops in Copperopolis. Cub Scout Pack 347, Girl Scout Troop 2026, and Girl Scout Troop 1777.


Ken Gutman, President of the Lake Tulloch Lions felt that "since the community trusts us to administer the monies collected from the community we wanted to adopt, among our many other community outreach programs, the scouts to give back to the kids." He pointed out that the Lions wanted to adopt the Boy Scout Troop but there were not enough boys for a troop this year, yet are committed to supporting them when they form.

The scouts hope to use the funds for flags, banners, books, starter kits and more. "We hope this helps them function as a group...with pride." Said Gutman.

"We are very grateful and excited. We are able to help some of the boys put together uniforms now and we are ordering a banner. Hopefully it will be done before the Veterans Day Parade. It will say sponsored by the Lake Tulloch Lions." Said  Heather Oliver the committee chairman of cub scout pack 347. Heather's husband, Doug, is the cub master.

Copper Library and Lions join for theatrical fund raiser

The Copperopolis Friends of the Library and the Copperopolis Lake Tulloch Lions Club presents a night at the theater on Thursday, October 23 at 7pm. The musical play is "Spelling Bee" performed by the Sierra Rep theater in east Sonora.  It is a musical about  six adolescent outsiders trying to fit in and win the championship of a lifetime.

The tickets are $20 and benefit the library and lions club.  Tickets are available at the  Copperopolis library, Umpqua bank, the Sports Pub, and Central Sierra Real Estate office.  

Seating is not reserved.  First come first served.

Scouts earn badges and support serving Lions

Local Cub Scout Troop 347 along with Girl Scout troop 2026 were the main event at the monthly Lake Tulloch Lions dinner held at the Copperopolis Armory Wednesday night, 9-10-14.

The Webelo's took turns telling the history of the flag as part of earning one of their badges and the Wolves were to write thank you notes for their badge. Young scout Zen told the group of Lions all about the troops popcorn sales, going into such detail as to name every single kind of popcorn listed on the order form.

Then the scouts, with the help of their leaders, served up heaping plates of fried chicken, potato salad, cole slaw and a roll to each and every Lion.

Tha Lake Tulloch Lions had voted to "adopt" the local scouting troops to help them with some of their needs as they arose. The evening was a way for the Lions to see the fantastic youth and program they were supporting.

Many Lions members said it was a really fun evening, they enjoyed seeing the promising youth of our community. According to scout mom and one of the leaders, Heather Oliver, "the boys had so much fun!"

Lake Tulloch Lions scholarships awarded to 4 deserving Copperopolis seniors

4 deserving Copperopolis seniors received $1,000.00 scholarships from the Lake Tulloch Lions at the Bret Harte Senior awards night held on May 21, 2014.

The recipients were:
Darrell Lucas, Ryan Soulier-Doyle, Diana Munoz, and Jennifer Munoz.

Recipients were chosen based on scholastic performance, ACT/SAT scores (if taken), essay content and style, proposed career and life goals, monetary need and intent to gain employment while in school, participants in school and community, and residency in Copperopolis.

For over ten years the Lake Tulloch Lions Club has gifted at least 4 Copperopolis seniors per year with a $1,000.00 scholarship for further education.

The LT Lions raise these funds for scholarships and other community programs and donations through their annual Crab Feed and their Hot Copper Nights Car Show.

The LT Lions give a large percent of their proceeds back to the community of Copperopolis. They also support several District Projects:  camperships for Camp Pacifica, the Lions Eye Foundation, save glasses for the Lions in Sight, support Relay For Life, help youth get MedicAlert bracelets when needed, helped with the Lions kitchen for the Rim Fire, plan to use the Eyemobile, collect pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House in Madera, and supported the Rose Bowl Float.

Lions Crab Feed auction items

If you have not gotten your ticket for the anual Lake Tulloch Lions Club Crab feed get 'em soon as they are going fast!

The Lions Club site was recently updated to include some of the aution prizes and gift baskets.One item is a 42" TV LED Digital ATSC timer, LCD Full HDTV Full High Definition 1920 X 1080, resolution,  LED 42C45RQ 1080 P, 16.9 wide screen Aspect Ratio , 3.6 slim design 2 HDMI Input.

Lake Tulloch Lions helping vets

At the last Lake Tulloch Lions Club meeting of 2013 the Lions recognized the veterans of VFW Post 12118, thanking them for their service to our country and to the community.

And in true Lake Tulloch Lion form they backed their words with financial support, giving a check to the VFW from the funds they raised selling hotdogs at the 2nd annual Copperopolis Veterans Day Parade held 11-11-12.

The Lake Tulloch Lions volunteered their hotdog cooking prowess at the 2nd annual Copperopolis Veterans Day Parade held November 11, 2013 at 11 am, feeding over 100 people during the event and raising money for the local VFW.

Through rain or sleet or snow the Lions will complete their commitment to the community

On a drizzly, sometimes rainy, Saturday morning, September 21, 2013, the Lake Tulloch Lions came out in force to clean their section of highway 4 that was adopted by them years ago.

For the past 10+ years the Lake Tulloch Lions have cleaned the one mile stretch of Highway radiating a half mile in each direction from the Little John extension. Their commitment has them collecting trash in the spring and in the fall. This falls haul was approximately 30 trash bags along with the many times fallen stop sign at 4 and Little John.

To spice things up the club has a small prize for the most unusual find.  Some finds have included rings, cameras, money and the occasional stop sign.

Lions Club 8-31-13 Health and Safety Fair postponed due to air quality

According to a Lions representative the Health and Safety Fair that was to be held at Walmart Sonora 8-31-13 has been postponed due to poor air quality.
A new date will be issued soon.

Lake Tulloch Lions still at work volunteering at evac center

The Lake Tulloch Lions have teamed up with various Lions clubs throughout the area to help where needed at the Sonora Fairgrounds Evacuation Center helping those displaced by the RIM fire.
The shelter, run by the American Red Cross, provides food, shelter, and emotional support.
The current capacity at the Sonora shelter is 135 people with a maximum cpacity of 250.
