Board of Supervisor joint meeting with Planning Commision re: event zoning regulations

On August 9, 2012, the Board of Supervisors will hold a joint study session with the Planning
Commission regarding the Zoning Code regulations for Special Events, including various
options to enhance business opportunities and economic development.

For complete agenda CLICK HERE

A portion of the agenda deals with the obstacles and impediments of holding an event and the subsequent codes for said event. A portion of the agenda reads:

 Obstacles/Impediments
• The Code sections related to special events is difficult to read and can be confusing.
• In some cases, the regulations are overly burdensome, time consuming and expensive for
simple events that do not impact surrounding properties.
• In other cases, the regulations do not adequately address large-scale events that require
additional services from emergency responders, such as the Sheriff, Fire Department,
Paramedics, and Public Works. This is an important consideration for public safety.
