Remembering Eva Marie Schicke

On September 12, 2014, friends, family and firefighters came together to remember Eva Marie Schicke.

Eva was a member of an elite 9 person helitack team who lost her life on the Tuolumne River Fire on September 12, 2004 when wind shifted causing Eva to be overrun by fire. She is the first CDF woman firefighter to die in the line of duty.

A memorial stands on the bluff overlooking the canyon where she lost her life.
