Invitations
have been extended to sixteen men and women whose names will be on the November
4 general election ballots received by voters in the greater Murphys area. Each candidate will be allowed to set up a
table and a couple of chairs, display their signs and other printed materials,
and be available to chat, one-on-one, with those in attendance.
“We
think this is a great way for the residents of our area, in a stress free
environment, to really get to know the people who want our votes,” say MCC
President Sue Friedman. “There have been
forums and other public gatherings, and the candidates have been attending
events and knocking on doors, but here is a chance to interact informally with
all the candidates in one place, at one time.”
The
candidates expected to attend are those running for County Supervisor -
District 3, Superior Court Judge - Departments 1 and 2, Calaveras Community
Water District Board Member - Division 3, and the Vallecito Union School Board.
There
will be no speeches or formal presentations.
