“Safe and Sane” fireworks are permitted inside the
City limits of Angels Camp on private property. The Bret Harte High School
Sports Center parking lot on Murphys Grade Road will be available to the public
for fireworks on July 4 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. No public displays of
fireworks are scheduled inside the City limits.
Legal fireworks are marked with a “Safe and Sane” logo
from the California State Fire Marshal on the packaging, but some illegal
fireworks may have a forged logo on them. Illegal fireworks in California are
those that explode, leave the ground, or move about uncontrollably, such as sky
rockets, bottle rockets, and roman candles. Penalties for possessing,
transporting, or using illegal fireworks range from a misdemeanor to felony
charges. If you are have a question regarding the legality of your fireworks,
please contact your local fire station.
