Board of Sups votes 4-1 in favor of Moke Wild and Scenic Designation

The Board of Supervisors, at the 7-30-14 standing room only evening meeting, voted 4-1 in favor of the original resolution of the Moke River Wild and Scenic designation. Cliff Edson was the only dissenting vote requesting amendments to the original resolution with agriculture being the forefront of his request.

Public comments consisted of:
Point of order requesting more time for representatives who would be speaking on behalf of a larger group, example, an Amador County Supervisor. (This was denied by County Counsel reiterating the three minute time allotment per speaker, Spellman stated "they can speak as long as they want in Amador County." Ponte stated, "The (board) will keep speakers to three minutes per person." )

Moke: hope you represent me well.
Angels Camp : designation not in the best interest of Calaveras County residents.
Rancho Calaveras: no on eon this planet knows what the water need will be generations from now- do not have the right to preclude future generations from a real debate on the table
Cal County resident: protect our water rights.
West Point: this is not anything new - preserve our river
Amador County Supervisor: The water districts do not support, one board member sold you a bill of goods.
MiWok Indians: we stopped this designation in the '90's, there are 100's of designated sacred sites of our people (along the area designated) all are protected, oppose adamantly to designation wild and scenic of this river.
Bryant Milesi Congressman Tom McClintock's office: opposed to wild and scenic, citing land use, wildfire preparedness and water structure in danger
Steve Kearney: oppose, protect future and current water rights.
Calaveras County resident: water sustains our life, ranching in farming, water sources come from the moutains.
Calaveras County resident: this takes Moke out of future possibilities, this is the wrong decision for the future generations.
