MEDIA RELEASE

Valley Springs Woman Arrested for Residential Burglary

(Valley Springs, CA) On 04/07/12 Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary in progress in the 8300 block of McAtee Street in Valley Springs. At the time of the burglary, the reporting party/victim was at home and was giving live updates to Calaveras Dispatch while he awaited the arrival of the deputy. The victim reported that a suspicious vehicle was parked in his driveway, and he could see a female adult on his porch, and heard her going in and out of his basement. Every time she went to the porch she carried an item belonging to the victim and placed the item on the porch.

The deputy arrived at the residence and immediately confronted the female, identified as Tina Louise Harris (39) of Valley Springs, outside the garage. Upon being questioned Ms. Harris told the deputy that she was looking for a place to rent, and was just cleaning up for the homeowner. She admitted to going into the garage and basement, but stated that she was not stealing anything. She was booked into the Calaveras County jail on the charge of 1st Degree Burglary (felony). This was the second report of burglary to this residence. The investigation is ongoing and is being looked at as a possible link to other burglaries in the area.
