Letter to the Editor re: letter to the BOS on short term rental from Al Segalla

This is regarding the proposed Lake Tulloch Short Term Rental law.

It seems homes in Calypso Bay will be required to pay the permit fee, even if the subdivision HOA members do not want to be part of the new regulations.

Also, based on remarks from the Copper Cove HOA President and Board, at it's last meeting, they also do not want to be part of the new regulations. However, there were a few vocal members that disagreed and want the new law. The major objection seems to be the $2,000 permit fee.
As we understand the situation now, the two major complaints with short term rentals were noise from partying vacationers and parking violations.  From comments I received, it seems short term renters are no more noisy than owners on vacation.

The county just passed a noise ordinance and there is existing law regarding illegal parking.

Is there a taxpayer liability if a person was hurt or killed due to a negligent county inspection or a unreasonable requirement?

Perhaps it would be wise to get feedback from all affected HOAs before proceeding further.

Above all else, do no harm.

Best regards. - Al Segalla
