3700 Easter Eggs Stuffed and Ready for the CCLTOA Annual Easter Egg Hunt

In 2000 Renee Kraemer went to the CCLTOA Board of Directors questioning why they hadn’t hosted an Easter Egg hunt that year, pointing out that an awful lot of children were disappointed. The Board offered to let her organize the event for the following year, giving her a budget of $200.00. Ten years later Renee is still in charge of organizing the annual Easter Egg hunt at Blackcreek Park for the children of the community, though over the years she has garnered more community support and increased funding; up to $800.00 currently. This year Renee credits the amazing donations to the work of Diana Lopez saying “she has done so much” not just monetarily wise but outreach into the community for donations and support.
At the ‘stuff the Easter eggs’ marathon meeting Tuesday night at Blackcreek, approximately 21 volunteers gathered to stuff 3700 plastic Easter eggs with scrumptious candies; from reesees pieces to tootsie rolls, crabby patties to skittles, and of course jelly beans, lots of jelly beans. Hands were washed, eggs were placed in 400 count bags surrounding the stuffers and candy was placed in multiple bowls for easy access. With all the chatting (and admittedly some sampling) all 3700 eggs were filled in under 1 ½ hours!
According to Renee approximately 200 children came to the Easter Egg hunt last year. With a smile on her face and a twinkle of joy in her eye she said she is hoping for that many or more this year. It was easy to see that Renee loves what she is doing for the kids in our community.
The CCLTOA Annual Easter Egg hunt will be held at 10:00 am sharp on April 23, 2011. All the children of Copperopolis are welcome. Bring your basket and come enjoy the day.
