Sheriff James W. Mele has been appointed to the Governor’s
State 911 Advisory Board. Sheriff Mele believes this is a great opportunity for
rural areas, such as Tuolumne County, to be represented throughout California. It is easy
for large metropolitan areas to become the focus and to consume the available
funding associated with the 911 system. Tuolumne County
and other rural areas deserve the same considerations.
The Advisory Board looks at issues within the
911 system and makes recommendations on how to upgrade and integrate the system;
for better overall communication among all emergency services.
