San Andreas CHP gets new Commander



SAN ANDREAS CHP GETS A NEW COMMANDER


SAN ANDREAS - Lieutenant Dewayne Lewis, a 25 year veteran of the CHP has been named the new Commander of the San Andreas Area CHP Office.  A resident of the Sacramento area, Lieutenant Lewis will be responsible for 27 personnel and 2000 square miles the office currently serves. 




As an officer, Lewis worked in Santa Barbara, Indio, and at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento.  In 2002, Lewis promoted to a sergeant, working in Los Banos, Napa, and Woodland Areas, the CHP’s Emergency Notification and Tactical Alert Center, which is responsible for AMBER Alerts, and in the Office of Internal Affairs.  Lewis promoted to Lieutenant in 2008 and was assigned to the CHP Academy overseeing cadet training, and has worked in the Contra Costa and South Sacramento CHP Areas.

Lewis looks forward to being engaged in the communities in which he serves and welcomes interaction and feedback from the county’s residents.

Outgoing Lieutenant Josh Ehlers transferred to the Office of the Commissioner in the Sacramento Area.
