Ist Tuolumne Writer's Retreat a literary success

With 45 people in attendance and an eclectic array of instructors and panelists, the Tuolumne Writer's Retreat accomplished what it set out to accomplish...inspire the author within.

Classes ranged from poetry to completing historical research, from creating an e-book to writing and illustrating for children's books. There were demonstrations of Cowboy Poetry, Native American poetry and music, a ghost walk and other lively and engaging events throughout the two and a half day retreat in old town Columbia.

Chairperson and event organizer Blanche Abrams was thrilled with the whole weekend from the Ghost walk, to the variety of classes offered to the speakers. "There were attendees who made connections with each other that will last a lifetime." She spoke of the poetry readings that brought people together and the exercises that expanded the mind. Not confined to local authors Blanch "made friends with a woman from Tanzania and Cowboy Poets from Mariposa."

"This weekend excavated the unclaimed gold nuggets of writers and literary talent in the Mother Lode and proved our Ghost Town of Columbia is alive with spirit."

"So many thanked our Sonora Writers Group for organizing this event. The enthusiasm we received from the attendees and the support from the class presenters and speakers was overwhelming. Watch for the Tuolumne Writers Retreat to ride into downtown Columbia again next September."
