Tire Waste Amnesty Days



“Tire Waste Amnesty Days”

The Calaveras County Department of Public Works, Integrated Waste Management is pleased to announce our Tire Waste Amnesty Days.  Dispose of and recycle up to 9 tires for free during our “Amnesty Days.”

This event will be held for one weekend only.
Saturday & Sunday, May 3rd & 4th, 2014 at the following locations.

·         Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility, Milton                                 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
·         Red Hill Yard Waste Area, Vallecito                          9:00 am – 5:30 pm
·         Wilseyville Yard Waste Area, Wilseyville              9:00 am – 5:30 pm
·         Gambi Disposal, San Andreas                                      9:00 am – 5:30 pm

This event is open to Calaveras & Alpine County residents with proper identification* and each household will be allowed to dispose of up to 9 tires**without an exemption.  If you will have 10 to 20 tires, please call Calaveras County Environmental Health at 754-6399 for information on obtaining an Exemption Authorization.  This exemption must be presented with the load at the amnesty event.

*Proof of residency will be required, either with a current driver’s license showing a Calaveras or Alpine County address or a copy of your current tax bill, which shows a property related solid waste fee.

** California State Transportation laws limit the number of tires you can haul to 9 tires.   Any loads with 10-20 tires must obtain an exemption or the amnesty waiver will not be applicable. 

Please note the Tire Amnesty fee waiver is not applicable to businesses; tractor tires; tires with rims or for loads larger than 20 tires.
