On 04/28/14 Calaveras County Resident Deputy Kyle Johnson was following up on a lead regarding vandalism to the Gavin Brummund memorial tree located in White Pines Park. The tree was planted as a memorial for fallen Marine Gavin Brummund. Deputy Johnson learned that juveniles were responsible for the removal of the tree. The juveniles were not aware the tree was planted for the local fallen Marine and were remorseful. The juveniles were cited for the vandalism.
