Helicopter circling Copper Update - 4-17-14 8:29 am

According to Sheriff Dept PIO Sgt Hewitt the helicopter circling Copper is looking for a potentially suicidal person walking, possibly with a knife, possibly cutting themselves in the Copper Meadows, 8A vicinity along O'Byrnes Ferry Rd.

If you see this person call 911. Do not approach.

The male subject, allegedly intoxicated, threatened to cut himself with a knife following a family dispute. There was no information that he was a threat to the public. The subject walked away. The Sheriff Dept and Angels Camp PD K-9 searched the area on foot while CHP helicopter searched by air. The suspect was reported to have been picked up by someone in a vehicle and left the area. It is unknown where he went.
