Candidate qualifications made a bit clearer

When a voter looks at the list of those who have pulled petition in lieu for an elected office in Calaveras County they have noticed and question the not qualified in parenthesis by virtually every candidate.

This does not meant the person is not qualified to run for office, this simply means they have not completed the additional requirements to run for that particular office.

According to the county elections office :
"In order for a candidate to be qualified they must submit 20 nomination signatures from voters registered within the district they are seeking office, pay filing fees and file a Declaration of Candidacy with the Election Official. The filing period for paying filing fees and filing the Declaration of Candidacy is between February 10 through March 7, 2014
Candidates for Superior Court Judge must file a notice of Intention in addition to the other filing requirements between January 27 & February 5, 2014. If an incumbent doesn’t file, the filing period is extended five days for anyone other than the incumbent."

Also, noted on the Calaveras County  Candidates Guide, "all candidates filing information is  considered public information and may be posted on the Elections Website."
