Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Unit - service stripes awarded

During the March meeting of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Volunteer Unit, four volunteers were presented with service stripes by Volunteer Captain Don Crouch.

One service stripe is awarded for each two years of service.  Receiving awards are David Aguilar and Ed Evans for two years of service, Al DeMott and Ross Sheely for fours of service.  Volunteers assist the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department in a wide range of activities including staffing substations, patrol residential areas, businesses, schools and parks and crowd control at community events.

Additional help is always needed.  Retired or semi-retired persons interested in joining this unit are encouraged to visit one of the sheriff substations throughout the county or call  (209)754-6500.
