Calaveras County Science Fair

Calaveras County students in grades four through twelve, who are recommended by their school, or who have won at their school’s Science Fair, will be participating in a countywide Science Fair to be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Sponsored by the Teichert Foundation and the Calaveras County Office of Education, this is the 28th Annual Calaveras County Science Fair, which will be held in the Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School gymnasium at 150 Old Oak Road, San Andreas, CA.

Judging of projects begins at 9:00 a.m. and includes an interview with the student(s) by a team of judges. Awards will be presented at the Awards Ceremony in the afternoon at approximately 2:30 pm.
Judging standards are based on creativity, scientific thought, skill, clarity, and the student’s interview. Awards will be presented to the first, second and third place winners at each grade level with a grand prize being awarded to the most outstanding project.
In addition to trophies, each entry will receive a Science Fair participant medal. Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade winners, as well as high school, will be eligible to compete in the State Science Fair at the California Science Center in Los Angeles on April 15 – 16, 2013.
Following the judging, fair projects may be viewed by the public until approximately 3:30 pm.
Information about the fair, forms and schedules may be accessed at the Calaveras County Office of Education’s website at www.ccoe.k12.ca.us/student_parents/science_fair.html. School schedules will be posted approximately 1 week prior to the event.
