Laughter on Tap at the Sports Pub's comedy night

On Friday night January 25, 2013 the Sports Pub hosted another trio of comedians from as near as Copper to as far as Sacramento. When the lights dimmed the crowd hushed and local comedian Julia Fretwell hit the stage the laughter began and didn't stop until the last comic hung up the mic.

Copper resident Julia Fretwell, all 5 feet of her, packed a punch with jokes about family, kids and husbands that almost all can relate to. Her routine also shed some light on the more difficult side of being short, especially the new height restrictions for car seats.

Next up was Monica Archuleta from Sacramento. Soft spoken with a dry wit her humor would sneak up on you and leave you laughing. From food to families nothing was spared her humor.

Headliner P.H.A.T. Joe quickly pointed out that the acronym was not particularly meant to describe his size so much as his eating habits... pretty hungry all-the time. Joe rocked the crowd with laughter quickly assessing our likes and dislikes and going with the flow. He played with hecklers and joked with locals and brought down the house.

Comedians are brought to the area by promoter Del VanDyke, a great comedian in his own right he has familiarized himself with our town and met many locals which of course has given him yet more material.  VanDyke books for small and large venues alike working closely with Black Oak Casino. Many comedians that perform at Black Oak try out there acts on the stage at the Sports Pub.

Next comedy show at the Sports Pub will be February 22, 2013. 785-4646
