Highway 4 east of Cottage Springs and west of Cabbage Patch is
closed due to heavy smoke and fire nearing the road At this time it is
unknown when it will reopen
Update 4:46 8-13-12 from Forest Service:
The Forest Service and CHP are engaged in a pre-evacuation meeting
for Big Meadows Campground area. The fire is spotting over the north
side of Hwy 4, which is a trigger for a Type 2 Incident Command Team who
is arriving at 6:00pm today for their briefing. Hwy 4 is closed from
Cottage Springs to the Cabbage Patch Caltrans maintenance station.
Fire still at 400 acres 20% contained.
