Copper residents politically active

Two residents of Copperopolis have taken out the initial paperwork to seek re-election. They are Mark Twain Union Elementary School District board member Maggie Rollings, and Calaveras County Board of Education member Louis Boitano.

An additional Copper resident is currently the only candidate to complete his filing, George Fry has thrown his hat in the ring for a seat on the Mark Twain Healthcare District board.

George Fry, currently a County Board of Education Board member, comes to the table with years of attempts within the political arena. In 2008 Fry ran as a Democratic candidate for the Assembly seat, yet dropped from the race as news hit the papers of his involvement with the taking of a brain damaged woman to San Diego without the knowledge of her family and leaving her there.  Multiple runs for Angels Camp City Council proved unsuccessful as did a 2011 bid for Planning Commissioner when the Board of Supervisors found that Fry did not possess, or was not willing to produce, a Master's Degree from Berkeley in Planning that he had cited on his application.

Election day is November 6, 2012.
