VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 12118 Officially formed

Just one month after Copperopolis made history with the installation of officers ceremony officially recognizing the James D Piper VFW Post 12118 Copperopolis, the Ladies Auxiliary became a reality, firmly placing Copperopolis on the national map.

On Sunday March 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm the formation of the James D Piper VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary became officially recognized as Local, State and National representatives from the VFW Ladies Auxiliary officiated the ceremony. Officers and trustees were installed and the gavel was handed over.

The members of the Ladies Auxiliary are as varied as the comrades of the VFW Post, representing foreign wars from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. 

Another proud day for the residents and veterans of Copperopolis.

'Honor the dead by helping the living' and  'Unwavering support for uncommon heroes' are the motto's of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Copperopolis Post 12118. Their mission is to 'serve the veterans of this country and our communities in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform.'

Ladies Auxiliary VFW Members are...

  • Wives
  • Widows
  • Mothers
  • Foster and Stepmothers (who have performed the duties of a parent)
  • Grandmothers
  • Daughters
  • Granddaughters
  • Foster and Stepdaughters (who attained that status prior to the age of sixteen and for whom the duties of parent were performed)
  • Sisters, Half-sisters, foster and Stepsisters (who attained that status prior to the age of sixteen)

Of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and at least 16 years old.
Women eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be eligible for dual membership in the Ladies Auxiliary.
