CFPD Volunteer FIrefighter Dominic Celilio - living, eating and breathing firefighting

17 year old Bret Harte senior Dominic Celilio is not sure quite how he became so passionate about fire fighting, but can tentatively trace it back to his father Tom Celilio's interest in serving the community through his volunteer firefighting position at CFPD.

Dominic would watch his father "and all the guys" at training and enjoyed everything about the 'job.' At the time, there was not a cadet program in place, but as soon as there was Dominic was all in. "I decided to try it and I love it!"

Not stopping there, Dominic enrolled in the ROP fire program at Bret Harte and quickly became proficient enough that he is now, as an advanced fire tech student, a teachers assistant to Chief Rosebrook for the beginning fire tech class at Bret Harte.

Wait there is more...

As an advanced fire tech student and a senior, Dominic decided to meld his passion for firefighting into his senior project; a five year project aimed at raising funds to build an apparatus room/structure for the engine at Bret Harte.

While attending Bret Harte, cadet fire training meetings and making presentations for his senior project Domininc is also enrolled in the Calaveras County Volnteer Fire Academy. With his mother Michelle in the nursing field, medical language and facts were commonly tossed about at the dinner table helping Dominic to feel confident through the First Responder portion of the academy, though he worries that when dealing with a patient he still lacks "confidence in my voice." Now into the fire fighting section of the academy he "felt confident going into" that portion with all the experience he has gained as a cadet with CFPD and through Bret Harte ROP fire tech.

Dominic hopes to make a career out of firefighting, but would also like to get his paramedic license to allow him more options.

Dominic praised Chief Rosebrook, his fire tech instructor and battalion Chief with Murhys Fire, for motivating him and igniting the fire fighting passion within him.
