Sheriff Dept Press release re: arrest of two felons

(Murphys, CA) On 12/08/11 at approx. 12:50 AM deputies from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, including two with the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team (SET), received a tip that wanted felon Daniel Cosmo Guida (29) of Avery was staying at a residence in Murphys located at 636 Williams Street. As two patrol deputies attempted contact at the front door, the SET deputies posted at the rear of the residence. Mr. Guida, upon seeing the deputies at the front door, fled out the back door of the residence, into the waiting arms of the SET deputies. Mr. Guida was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Calaveras County Jail where he is being held on a combined total bond amount of $116,250.00. Mr. Guida had a total of five Calaveras County arrest warrants. The charges included: Prohibited Person Possessing a Firearm (felony), Possession of Stolen Property (felony), Threatening with a Weapon (misdemeanor), Criminal Threats (felony), Vandalism (felony), Battery (misdemeanor), and Assault with a Deadly Weapon (misdemeanor).

Valley Springs, CA) On 12/07/11 at approx. 4:45 PM, Calaveras Sheriff Deputies assigned to the Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration in the Pizza Factory parking lot, located at 1919 Vista Del Lago Drive, in Valley Springs. Upon contacting the vehicle occupants they identified the passenger as wanted parolee-at-large Shawn James Holcomb (26) of Stockton. Mr. Holcomb had an active CDC Parole warrant for his arrest. Mr. Holcomb was arrested and transported to the Calaveras County jail without further incident, pending extradition to a CDC facility.
