Calaveras Taxpayers Host Public Luncheon in Murphys keynote speaker Assemblymember Kristin Olsen

The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association (CCTA) is sponsoring another interesting quarterly luncheon, according to Al Segalla, CCTA President.

The delicious Buffet Luncheon will be held at the Murphys Historic Hotel on Friday January 27, 2012, 12:00 - 2:00 PM.

Almost one year ago Kristin Olsen took office as the 25th District's new Assembly Member. She was on a recent Sonora station KVML’s "Newsmaker of the Day" and continues to be proud to represent the local area as she has a passion for the businesses, communities and people of the Motherlode.

Born, raised, and now raising her own family in Modesto, Olsen has swiftly integrated herself into the current 25th district which ranges from the central valley to the eastern Sierra.
Over the past year in the Motherlode, Olsen has helped to make Sonora a starting point for a leg of next year’s Amgen bicycle race. Olsen also hosted a TuCare Natural Resources Summit. She continues to be concerned about the potential closure of Railtown 1897 and is trying to come up with a workable solution.
Olsen says that her largest disappointment in Sacramento is seeing for herself that there are not enough lawmakers who are willing to work to find solutions to real problems.
"There is a lot of grandstanding," said Olsen.
Looking ahead, the estimated $13 billion dollar state budget deficit continues to be a concern and Olsen can only hope that eventually Republicans, Democrats and Governor Brown can work together to come up with real solutions.
With new redistricting lines set to take place in November of 2012, Olsen will soon no longer represent the Motherlode, but says that she will continue to be a friend and an advocate on behalf of the area.

Attendees will also enjoy the music of Tonja Dausend on the Cello.  Tonja is a CCTA Director and frequently speaks before the Board of Supervisors, defending property rights and exposing regulatory abuse.
There will be an exciting fund raising raffle and prize donations are most welcome.
Seating is limited. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. On-line reservations are available until January 25,  2012 at the CCTA website: CalaverasTaxpayers.org. Or, call 785-1491.
