Angels Camp PD Press release re:felony vandalism

On the evening of Saturday, 12-10-11, unknown subject(s) caused approximately $4,150.00 in damage to the property of nine different victims at various locations throughout Angels Camp. Starting at approximately 8:30 PM, the first incident was reported in the 500 block of Amador Avenue, where a projectile was fired at the front window of a residence. The resident was at home at the time and heard the projectile strike the window and discovered the broken window and called police.

For approximately the next half-hour to forty-five minutes, the suspect(s) apparently drove around Angels Camp and fired projectiles at the windows of vehicles that were parked in various locations. The location of vehicles that were damaged ranged from the Greenhorn Creek subdivision to Finnegan Lane and Gold Cliff Road, and at various locations in between. It appears that the suspect(s) were firing a medium sized ball bearing type projectile from a sling shot or similar device, as there were no reports of firearms being discharged from any of the neighborhoods involved. All of the victims involved had at least one window of either their home or vehicle shattered. Currently the only investigative lead was obtained by one of the victims, who reported that they saw a vehicle leaving the area when they heard the projectile strike their window. The victim described that vehicle as a full-sized white diesel pick-up, unknown make, with a chrome tool box that was behind the cab and is the width of the pick-up bed. The Angels Camp Police Department is requesting that anyone with any information related to these crimes contact Officer David Scarborough at 736-2567.
