2011 Steak and Shrimp Fest a success

Since 2003 Young's Payless IGA has partnered with Copperopolis Elementary to host a yearly Steak and Shrimp Fest to raise funds for Copper School. IGA donates all food products and alcohol for the event as well as helping in coordination and event advice.

The 2011 Steak and Shrimp Fest raised a total of $10,359 for Copperopolis Elementary.

According to Jessica Welch, Copper Elementary PTC President the monies will be used for field trips, assemblies, education programs, such as PIL or Partners in Literature and Scholastic News.  Due to the generosity of the community and IGA they will also be able to utilize the funds to purchase awards for sports, attendance, and honor roll and offset the cost of hosting a bi-yearly Honor Roll Brunch to all honor roll students and their parents. PTC also hosts a Fun Day at the end of the year and Teacher Appriciation in May. Teachers also come to us throughout the year with "wish items" or things they need.

"Those are just a few of the events and things that we try to do for our kids at the school," said Jessica.   "I am so thrilled to have such a great outcome...as usual this community pulls us through again! Thanks so much."
