Update: 12:25, Procession to head up 108 not through up Hwy 4 up through Copper.

A procession for fallen firefighter Jordan Reyes will be passing through Copperopolis at approximately 12:30 am 9-23-11.

Reyes was a firefighter for the Stanislaus National Forest, working on engine 12 at the Long Barn station.

On Thursday September 15, 2011 Jordan Reyes, 23, of Sonora, was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto after the 2012 Triumph motorcycle he was driving east on Highway 108 ran into a 2003 Subaru driven by Jessika Smith, 34, also of Sonora, while she was making a left turn onto the highway out of the west Twain Harte Drive entrance. Friend Toney Powers stated that Reyes passed away in the hospital the following day.

His mother said that Jordan was an avid motorcyclist, snowboarder, wakeboarder and bicyclist, also that on top of firefighting, Reyes was an EMT and had plans to take courses in the spring for becoming a paramedic.
"He wanted to do nothing but help people and always make sure people were doing the best for themselves,” said Bruce Cannon in a quote to the Union Democrat.

Reyes is survived by his father, Alan Reyes, and younger brother, Andrew Reyes, his mother Faylan Cannon, and stepfather, Bruce Cannon.
