Youth Missionary to Copper Passes Away

This summer, young missionaries from around the United States came to Copperopolis to help with summer youth programs and to spread the word. The missionaries were hosted by Pastor Sean and his family from the Copper Canyon Baptist Church.

Among those missionaries was 26 year old Patrick Scott Umbeck.

Patrick was a long way from home, his native state Missouri, but he was well schooled in the ways of missionary life. Last year he had spent 8 weeks working with the homeless in San Francisco, the last 6 weeks on his own. He had earned a Bachelors degree and was to continue his education in seminary in Louisville Kentucky.

Patrick passed away Friday July 15, 2011 after suffering a massive heart attack.
