Copper Kids Idol Taking the Stage May 7

More than a dozen youngsters are taking to the stage for a premier show under the lights with hopes of bigger and better things to come.   The Copper Kids Idol Contest is has grown into a musical production to be presented Saturday, May 7, in the lodge at Lake Tulloch Resort from 6 – 8 PM.  Admission is free.
Based upon the popular TV series “American Idol,” Director Danna Goatley planned this event as an outreach to those who “can meet a challenge and have fun doing it.”  Parents and supporters have joined in to help with everything from stage tips to judging.  Local businesses are offering a variety of awards for the kids.  The Copper Kids Contest is an opportunity for performers to experience a live audience before moving on to the Calaveras County Fair Idol Contest held during the Frog Jump in Angels Camp.  If they achieve a winner’s spot, there is a chance to proceed to other venues, including Cal Expo’s Idol Competition.
Danna remembers “singing into a hairbrush” when she was a kid and has no problem relating to young, nervous entertainers.  The group has been practicing since February in preparation for their first live audience.  The Copper Kids Idol Contest is sponsored by Copperopolis Area Business Association (CABA) as a community event.  Email Danna Goatley at CopperKidsIdol@yahoo.com or call 209-345-3982.
