The Incredible Oz Behind Town Square Events ~ By Charity Maness

We have all enjoyed the multitude of events that are hosted or sponsored by the Copperopolis Town Square: Chili cook-offs, Dog day afternoons, Christmas wonderlands, Fall celebrations, Calaveras Arts Council music in the park, Classic Car Shows, September Music series, Parks and Rec movies under the stars or phenomenal Halloween experiences, but do we all know who coordinates these amazing events?

The incredible Oz behind the curtain at Town Square is none other than Linda Stefanick.

Linda has been with Castle & Cooke since 1999 filling many different shoes, from real estate sales and marketing to managing the Town Square website and organizing the ever growing list of events. Though her official title is Vice President, Sales and Marketing, she says with a smile, “if the trash needs emptying I will do that too.” Her chosen profession may be real estate sales but she may have missed her calling as a major event coordinator.

While we enjoy the fruits of her labor, sipping wines and listening to the latest greatest local music, Linda scurries about making sure everything is in place and everything is functioning properly. “Putting on a party has always been fun for me…a family bbq, a birthday party…these are just bigger a little more challenging, but seeing people have a good time makes it all worthwhile.” Linda is quick to add that without her right hand man Les Stanton, who is “always enthusiastic about each event and is tremendously helpful”, she doesn’t know how she could pull off the events.

Over the years Town Square Events have raised money for the Copperopolis Firefighters Association, the Calaveras Humane Society, and hosted events for the Lions Club, the Copperopolis Library, Parks and Rec, Copper Hills 4-H, and smaller groups like the 6th grade science camp bake sale that occurred during the chili cook-off. “Castle & Cooke supports my efforts to put on the events…(they) believe in giving back to the community.”

When asked which event she enjoys the most she had a difficult time choosing just one, but felt her favorite events were the ones for the children, adding “but being able to contribute something to help others is magical to me.”

  1. Linda is a awesome person. Copper is lucky to have her. Greg and Linda are a great couple that bring lots to the table. Thanks for all the fun events you put on and things you do for copper.

Linda was also the person that put together the Copper 150 wall by the Armory.
