Letter to the Gazette from Spellman re: Horses in Need

Could you please spread the word a little, this is the latest news. I have a conference call right know with State Assemblywomen Kristen Olsen starting at 10 a.m. about the state budget.

A horse rescue in Tuolumne County has offered to take them all, at least temporarily until they are physically stable again.

They will need medical care in addition to just food. They are beyond just being hungry and muddy.

At this moment Captain Murray from the Sheriff's office is obtaining a warrant from a county judge to seize the animals after having made a final attempt last night to reason with the owner and offering rescue services only to have the door slammed in her face.

We hope that the horses will be removed as soon as possible.
