ANOTHER COLD NIGHT ON TAP FOR INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

INCREASING CHANCES FOR RAIN NEW YEARS EVE INTO NEW YEARS DAY... A VERY COLD POLAR AIR MASS HAS SETTLED OVER THE REGION AND IS BRINGING SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO A NUMBER OF VALLEY LOCATIONS THIS MORNING. SOME AREAS WHERE THE WIND HAS STAYED UP HAVE TEMPERATURES WELL ABOVE FREEZING THIS MORNING... SUCH AS OVER THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY AND IN THE NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY. TONIGHT THE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE MUCH LIGHTER OVER THE INTERIOR AND THIS WILL ALLOW MOST LOCATIONS TO LOWER INTO THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S OVERNIGHT WITH SOME OF THE COLDER VALLEY LOCATIONS DIPPING INTO THE MID 20S. FOOTHILLS LOCATIONS WILL HAVE TEMPERATURES IN THE 20S TO LOWER 30S TONIGHT WHILE TEMPERATURES IN THE MOUNTAINS WILL RANGE FROM THE SINGLE DIGITS TO AROUND 20 DEGREES. IF TRAVELING INTO THE MOUNTAINS TODAY FOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES...BUNDLE UP BECAUSE IT WILL BE VERY COLD WITH TEMPERATURES ONLY WARMING INTO THE TEENS AND 20S AT THE RESORT AREAS

Target Areas: NORTHEAST FOOTHILLS/SACRAMENTO VALLEY-MOTHERLODE-WESTERN PLUMAS COUNTY/LASSEN PARK-WEST SLOPE NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA-
