What Strong People Don’t Do!
When getting through some seriously
tough times, we often struggle with hanging in and staying strong. Since emotional healing is something all of
us struggle with at times, I thought I’d write each week about some things
emotionally strong people don’t do to give you new insights and perhaps
creating a better life. Enjoy!
They don’t make the same exact mistakes over and over again.
You can’t make the same mistake
twice. Because the second time you make
it, it’s no longer a mistake, it’s a choice.
Emotionally strong people accept responsibility for their behavior and
learn from their past mistakes. As a result,
they don’t keep repeating the same mistakes over and over. Instead, they grow and move on to better
decisions and new lessons.

Obama rules out US Military Action in the Ukraine
US President Barack Obama says it’s
plain for the world to see that Russian forces are fighting in Ukraine,
but ruled out American military action in the war-town country.
“Russia is responsible for the violence in eastern Ukraine,” Mr Obama said on Thursday, according to CNN, adding that German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed on this assessment during a recent conversation.
“The violence is encouraged by Russia, the separatists are trained by Russia, they are armed by Russia, they are funded by Russia,” Mr Obama said.
“Russia has deliberately and repeatedly violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
However, Mr Obama said America’s commitment to defend NATO states did not extend to non-alliance member Ukraine.

Thank you good samaritan
While there are some drawbacks to living in the country, the positive outweighs the negative by bushels.
For instance; the other day I ran to IGA to pick up a few items for the evening meal. After shopping, chatting and putting my cart away I headed home. On the way home I waved at the requisite 10 or so cars (as we all tend to know or at least recognize one another in our little town). I pulled into my driveway and received a phone call from Bruce....we all know Bruce...he was standing at check stand 2 in IGA where someone had just turned in my wallet that I had apparently left in my shopping cart.
Though I do not know who turned my wallet in, I want to thank you so much!
All I can say is, gotta love our town and the people who make up our community!
We rock!
Sincerely,
Charity Maness

Amazon warehouse in Tracy to hire 200 employees
TRACY — Amazon plans to hire more than 200 additional permanent full-time employees at its 1.2 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Tracy.
The online retailer says it needs more workers to keep up with growing customer demand. Amazon spokeswoman Ashley Robinson said the Tracy facility employs “hundreds of associates,” but she declined to be more specific.
Last year, Amazon opened a giant fulfillment center in Patterson. It recently leased space in Redlands for its fifth California center, expanding its warehouse space in the state to nearly 5 million square feet.

CHP SAN ANDREAS HOSTS TEEN DRIVING CLASS
San
Andreas, CA
– The leading cause of death for Americans 15-20 years old is motor vehicle
collisions, (According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
and the CHP’s goal is to reduce
the death rate among teenagers as the result of these collisions.
In order to
address this alarming trend, the CHP
developed a program called Start Smart.
Start Smart is aimed at helping newly licensed and future licensed
teenage drivers understand the critical responsibilities of driving and to
understand that accidents do happen, but collisions are 100 percent
preventable.
The primary
objective of Start Smart is to provide teens and their parent/guardians with an
interactive safe driving awareness class which will illustrate how poor choices
behind the wheel of a car can affect the lives of numerous people.

SRT presents 'All My Sons' by Arthur Miller
August 29 - September 21 at East Sonora Theatre
Sierra Rep stages its first Arthur Miller play All My Sons
It was written during World War II, but Arthur Miller’s play All My Sons continues to resonate with audiences today. Running August 29 through September 21
at Sierra Repertory Theatre’s East Sonora stage, the drama’s themes –
corruption, materialism, getting ahead at the expense of others – are
still relevant, said Scott Viets, artistic director at Sierra Repertory
Theatre.
Viets,
along with Dennis and Sara Jones, the theater’s producing and managing
directors, chose the play in part because it drives people to think
about right and wrong. It’s based on a true story, which Miller’s then
mother-in-law pointed out in an Ohio newspaper. The news story described
how in 1941-43 the Wright Aeronautical Corporation had conspired with
U.S. Army inspection officers to approve defective aircraft engines
intended for the military.
Miller’s
play, though, focuses on Joe Keller, the fictional head of the company,
who is accused of releasing the defective parts. That decision sets off
a series of events that highlight the play’s complex characters.

New Melones Fishing Report from Glory Hole Sports
8-25-14 Fishing Report
Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding
566,408
acre-feet of water. The lake level dropped three feet this week and is
currently at 871 ft. above sea level and 207 ft. from full. The lake is
85' lower than it was at this time last year. The main body is well
over 200-260' deep, under the 49-Bridge is aprox.160-180' deep and under
Parrot's Ferry Bridge there is 70-90' of water. The water is stained
in most of the lake. There are mud lines forming near the shore
throughout the day, especially on windy days and days with a lot of
boating traffic. The average water temperature is 76-82 degrees. Tuttletown
launch is closed. Glory Hole Point boat launch is open, and there are
no plans to close it. There will be some transition periods between
launches where launching will be limited to one or two lanes.
Trout:
Fair. There have been a few reports of trout being caught in the main
lake by the Dam, spillway, and near the 49 bridge. The trout are
hanging around the old river channel in deeper/cooler water. The shad
are starting to school up near the mouths of major creek channels. The
intersection where a major creek channels meets the old river channel is
great area to target the trout. Night fishing anglers
are still catching a few limits of chunky 2-pound plus rainbows while
fishing under a submersible light. Try using night crawlers and Power
Bait to target these quality fish. Trolling anglers
try using shad patterned baits that have a large profile. Shad Raps,
Rattle Traps, Speed Traps, and Apexs are a few good choices. Trolling
in dingy/stained water it is a good time to use a large string of
flashers. Ford Fenders, Cow Bells, Lake Trolls, and Ball Trolls will
create a lot of commotion and draw fish from a distance.
Glory
Hole Sports Big Fish of the Week Contest goes to Larry Leatham of
Sonora. He caught a nice 1-pound, 13-ounce rainbow trout while trolling
Rapalas and spoons on the main lake.
Letter to the Editor - Calaveras Schools slated for closure -
Saturday, August 23rd 2014 was a day that will long be remembered in Calaveras County.
Calaveras Unified School District Superintendent Mark Campbell's recommendation that he be given authority to close down a number of schools in the more rural areas of our county to meet the demands of a balanced budget that he, his Financial Analyst and administrative team botched, was given the green light from the Calaveras Unified Board of Trustees by a vote of 4/1 with Trustee Greg Gustafson as the only vote not in favor.
Also on a 4/1 vote, Gustafson dissenting, the Calaveras Unified Board of Trustees again reaffirmed the two controversial $16,000 raises for the Superintendent's Administrative staffers.
Those supporting Campbell couched any discussion or calls for accountability from the public as "uncivil" and "finger pointing" in an attempt to squelch the very emotional crowd.
After Saturday's 4 hour fiasco of a school board meeting this is about all that comes to my mind.
